Linger 5Linger 5 takes the team to a tiny town in Southeast Michigan in the dead of winter. Christopher, Weston and Kate all feel a pull unlike anything they’ve felt before that leads them to this town. They have no idea what the source is that has brought them here.

They enter a diner where an old man introduces himself to them and explains that they are drawn to the town as others have been before them by a house that’s been the site of numerous murders. Linger 4After coming up empty handed in Texarkana, Texas, Kate persuades Weston and Christopher to head to Austin. Kate uses her contacts from her past in law enforcement to obtain a speedy private investigator license that allows her to carry concealed weapons.

While in Austin the team is drawn to the Texas Killing Fields where countless bodies have been discovered dumped since the 1970’s. When they get to Austin, Christopher begins having seizures and crying out about “Monsters”. Linger 3Linger 3 takes Kate, Noah and Christopher to Florida to investigate a serial killer dubbed the Harbinger. The Harbinger leaves the mark of the circumpunct on a letter he sends to the federal task force assembled to find him. This is the symbol of the Beast the three are hunting.

Kate hears of the arrest of a Judge from her past for drunken driving and assault on a police officer. Kate convinces the others to stop in Apalache Springs to check on the Judge. When Weston’s Rambler breaks down they find themselves stuck in a small town in Alabama. They know the Beast has been here and soon realize he may still be closer than they think. Kate Messenger is a major crimes detective investigating the brutal murder of an entire family. The killer left six bodies, the father, mother, 3 children and the family dog. While other officers helping with the investigation believe the killing to be the work of a random psychopath, Kate’s instincts are telling her the killer knew the family.
