Die AgainEnjoy traveling? This one by Gerritsen has a bit of that intertwined with mystery, killings, and wild animal safaris. Die Again is a very interesting read as Rizzoli & Isles, the detective/medical examiner team, get involved in a somewhat different crime scene.

Beginning on a safari in Africa the story weaves back and forth between there and Boston. Also there are some years between some of the happenings that make it that much more involved and interesting. Rizzoli & Isles were not on the safari!

The safari turns out to be like no other one probably in history as the participants are stranded out in the wild with nothing but wild animals and woods. It appears as though the leader of the safari, who has set the whole thing up through the internet, is out to wipe out all of those traveling on the trip. Many things happen and one lady, who didn’t particularly want to go along, seems to be the only survivor and the rest except for perhaps the leader are either found dead or assumed to be.

After all that went down, Rizzoli and Isles are working on a strange case of their own where it appears that someone has not only killed a well-known taxidermist but has also strung him up in his hallway in an unusual fashion. They/he/she also appear to have not only gutted him and left some very unusual marks on his body but also it appears someone has taken a very valuable snow leopard pelt!

These two occurrences as outlined above seem almost completely unrelated but as Gerritsen is so well accomplished at doing she wraps them plus even more somewhat strange and once-in-a-lifetime happenings into a truly interesting read.

As usual there are some strange goings on in both Rizzoli’s and Isles’ lives and their partnership but it all just helps to keep the reader’s interest and builds the entire story line.

How involved it all becomes is really shown by the fact that this time Rizzoli and her FBI agent husband travel off to Botswana, Africa to help bring more intelligent information back along with a particular survivor of the safari to bring a long ranging mystery to a satisfactory ending.

Another really great story well told by Gerritsen.
